Welcome to the Early Years home page!!!
"The Early Years"
1948-1958 was a unique time in racing history. Nearly every station had an
old racer sitting beside it. Sunday afternoons families would load in the old sedan and head to the local
track for an afternoon of crashin' and bangin'. It was a time of few rules - fun came before fair. It was a crude and crazy time when parts were built, not bought. A time when drivers shared their stuff just so they would have somebody to race. It was a time of more cars, tracks, and fans than any other time in racing history.
I guess this site is more about memories than anything else. It isn't about vintage racing, with their window nets and chrome wheels. It's a 50's website about jalopy racing, the way it really was. It's for those of us old enough to remember (and still able to) and for the curious few who stumble onto it. It's just for fun, the way 50's racing was.
